This Thanksgiving, No Family Should Go Hungry

Karla is doing everything she can to hold her family together—“My salary is not enough.I have my mother with Alzheimer’s. We are eight in the house. And we have had a leukemia teenager in the house. So I can say that we’ve been through a lot and yes, I do benefit with anything I receive here. It makes a difference.” Even working full time, her income can’t stretch far enough.

After housing costs consume most of the budget, there’s nothing left for food, medical care, or basic needs. Families like hers depend on the Westside Food Bank to make it through each month—and right now, many more are facing the same impossible choices.

Westside Food Bank was founded in 1981 to make sure families like Karla’s wouldn’t face hunger alone. What began as a collaboration between a few local agencies has now grown into a powerful network serving 72,000 households—more than 153,000 people—through 60+ partner organizations across West West LA County.
