Donate! now to support our hunger relief work during the COVID-19 crisis

Westside Food Bank is an essential service and we are greatly increasing our distribution to our member agencies during the COVID-19 crisis.

The best way to support us during the COVID 19 emergency is to make a financial donation to support our bulk food purchases and essential operations. As the need for emergency food assistance skyrockets, we need your help to continue buying the truckloads of food required to keep our warehouse stocked. Every donated dollar allows us to provide food for four nutritious meals and more people than ever need our help to stay nourished during this crisis.

We are not currently accepting any new volunteers - our volunteer needs are covered with existing volunteers. We are also not accepting food donations from individuals. If our needs change we will post it here on our website.

Please note we are Closed to the Public due to the Safer at Home Order. We are maintaining limited business hours for essential operations only Monday-Thursday, from 7 am to 2 pm.

To contact us regarding general Covid-19 inquiries, please use this form.

A note from our Executive Director:

Dear Friends,

In the midst of a pandemic, it is certain that food insecurity and poverty will endure - and likely increase. To ensure the safety of all people involved as we distribute food, Westside Food Bank has enacted several safety precautions, including:

  • Social Distancing. The majority of our employees are now working from home, and essential personnel are maintaining the CDC-recommended distance and precautions.
  • Agency Protocol. We've distributed updated safety guidelines to all of our member agencies.
  • Food Safety. Our guidelines take strong measures to minimize food handling and limit warehouse occupancy, and to make sure that our agencies are minimizing risk for their staff, volunteers and the people they serve.

We will continue to provide food for people in need, but changing circumstances have increased operating costs as we keep up our essential service.

Can you spare $10 or more to keep our vulnerable neighbors food secure?

We're committed to making a high volume of nutritious food available for free throughout this crisis, and we could not do so without your support along the way.

With enduring gratitude,

Bruce Rankin, Executive Director

Westside Food Bank video:

The need for food assistance in our area is up by over 85% since the start of the Great Recession. Please help us put nutritious food on the tables of local families and individuals.  Make your donation here and/or sign up to become a virtual fundraiser and invite your friends and family to support our cause as well. Thanks for giving the gift of nourishment.

Westside Food Bank’s mission is to distribute as much food as possible to local agencies with food assistance programs and to reduce food waste on the Westside of Los Angeles County. As the food bank warehouse for the Westside since 1981, we annually distribute 4.5 million pounds of food to over 70 local social service agencies. We do not distribute food directly to individuals, only to agencies.
